ABSTRACT
A Court of Mixed Commissions opens in Sierra Leone under the terms of the 1835 treaty between Britain and Spain. Spain appoints a consul to the British colony of Jamaica to monitor abolitionist activity. He reports largely fictitious plans by anti-slavery activists to foment slave rebellions in Cuba. Britain appoints a Superintendent of Liberated Africans in Havana to assist Africans rescued from illegal slave traders.
