ABSTRACT
Terrain is continuous but variable, and if we are to discover its properties, our observations must be restricted to a small part only, that is, to a sample. Sampling and the associated field work considered in this and the following chapter provides the link between the project planning and remote sensing interpretation discussed in Chapters 9–11 and the data processing considered in Chapters 14 and 15.
