ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses some of refuse collection and storage materials for the disposal system. Which are deals with many different refuse collection such as bins, paper sacks and paladins. The traditional, and still the cheapest, method of refuse storage in buildings is the dustbin. Larger communal containers are sometimes used to simplify collection and make mechanical handling possible. The labour involved in collecting refuse can be substantially reduced by using paper sacks rather than bins. A special collection vehicle is required but most local authorities are equipped to collect paladins. Refuse, preferably wrapped in paper, is introduced by hopper flaps at each floor level and falls into the container, housed in an enclosure at ground level. The Garchey system was developed in France but British rights are held by a British firm. In this system refuse is introduced into a receiver under the kitchen sink through a large plug in the sink.
