ABSTRACT

The Nazi Party originated from among the many nationalist, right-wing splinter groups which characterised the German-speaking political scene before and immediately following the First World War (Fig. 1.2). It began life as the German Workers' Party (DAP), but membership of the DAP was small and it was to be transformed after Hitler joined and became its propaganda officer. It was largely Hitler's tutelage that placed the Party on the political map - and under a new title: the National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP).
