ABSTRACT
In this part of the book, we move on to look at more of the ideas that are presently dominating the field. In this chapter, various applications of linguistic theory to second language research will be the issue. The following chapter will delve more specifically into one linguistic and psycholinguistic framework, namely the Chomskyan perspective in which the concepts of ‘Universal Grammar’ and ‘learnability’ will come to the fore.
