Working with pupils
You, as a teacher, are part of the image that pupils have of science and scientists and your role is important in determining whether or not pupils like science and would wish to continue studying it. We do not want to present a picture of the 'mad scientist' or the 'bumbling professor' captured in many cartoons and children's films. Perhaps you would want to present an image of a scientist who is caring, interested in others, is concerned about the environment, considers things in a logical way and makes decisions based on evidence. Whatever your view is of science, you should attempt to illustrate your work with the benefits the study of the subject has brought to mankind.
