ABSTRACT
Forensic linguistics is concerned with the provision of expert linguistic evidence, usually in court. Before continuing it is necessary to give a very simple language model for the classification of types of linguistic evidence. It should be noted that this model makes no theoretical claims, and that the boundaries between categories are indistinct. One basic classification much used in applied linguistics is the following:
