The Historical Trajectories of the Ivorian and Kenyan States

Surprisingly, Cote d'Ivoire and Kenya have been very rarely compared, perhaps because they are too similar. If we follow the distinction proposed by M. Dogan and D. Pelassy between comparisons of analogous and contrasting countries, Cote d'Ivoire and Kenya fall into the first category, while Cote d'Ivoire and Ghana - which Richard Crook compares in Chapter 10 - fall into the second. 1 Let us begin by recalling the main characteristics which make these two countries analogous, as well as a certain number of differences which are too often overlooked.
