EI = dx 2 [7.3] which is known as the GENERAL DIFFERENTIAL EQUATION FOR DEFLECTION.

From this general equation the following relationships may be stated:

expression for y in terms of x and then differentiating the resulting expression with respect to x, or by writing down the expression for Min terms of x and then integrating with respect to x. The latter procedure is the most usual and is illustrated in the examples which follow.
