ABSTRACT

The programmes of study prescribed for National Curriculum history are merely outlines. Before they can be implemented, they need to be turned into meaningful schemes of work. There will be many ways of delivering the topics and requirements. Individual teachers, or in some cases groups of teachers in cooperation, will need to plan their own school units. In the process of delivering National Curriculum history it is most important that pupils are introduced to a wide and varied range of historical resources, and it may be useful to offer some general advice on the resourcing of such units.
