Good lighting design in buildings, daylight or artificial, is a m atter of both quantity and quality. The architect - in collaboration with the lighting engineer in a large project - is concerned not only with providing enough light for the given tasks in each space but, also, with providing it in such a way that proper advantage can be taken of it, allowing visual efficiency and comfort. And around all this, there is the need for the lighting properly to ‘reveal’ the building; for lighting, how we see, and aesthetics, how our spirit reacts to what we see, must surely go hand-in-hand?
