ABSTRACT
In this chapter we explore the various ways in which the effectiveness of health care programmes may be measured. Numerous methodologies are examined, discussing both methods for choosing an outcome measure in an economic evaluation and for obtaining effectiveness data. Where appropriate and useful, examples are provided.
