ABSTRACT

The information provided in the previous chapter on standard searches should be sufficient for many readers for most purposes. There will, however, be occasions where employing those methods will not readily locate specific documents that are available; or the information that you require. in such circumstances it is possible to substantially improve your locating capabilities by employing some of the advanced searching facilities provided by AltaVista and other search engines. As in the previous chapter, I will illustrate by reference to the AltaVista query syntax, for the reasons detailed there, while also referencing some of GooGle’s advanced searching features.
