Date and publication. Printed in 1693 in EP (the volume probably appeared towards the end of July); not reprinted in D.’s lifetime. The poem was one of the first nominated for inclusion in EP, and seems to have been one of those which had already been sent to Tonson by November 1692 (see Letters 50; David Hopkins, RES xxxix (1988) 70–1).
