The ACA 2002 was origin ally suppor ted by the Family Procedure (Adoption) Rules 2005 and the President of the Family Division’s Practice Direction, President’s Guidance (Adoption: the New Law and Procedure)1 (needed then owing to the signi fic ant changes made by the ACA 2002), but adop tion is now included in the FPR 2010 Part 12. There was also an Independent Reviewing Mechanism estab lished under the 2002 Act, which was designed to increase public confid ence in the current system by offer ing prospect ive adop ters who were turned down by an adop tion agency a right of review. It might be said that adop tion had now been more integ rated into family law than previ ously.
