The Control of Abuse of Dominance

Introduction In the introductory chapter of this book, it was made clear that one of the central concerns of the economics of competition was the control of market power. It is therefore unsurprising that all competition law regimes have measures that seek to control the exercise and maintenance of such power. In this chapter we shall discuss the ways in which the EU, through Art 102 TFEU, and the UK, through the Chapter II prohibition, seek to deal with the abuse of market power, or dominance, as it is known in the prohibitions.
