ABSTRACT

What is Judicial Review? Administrative law generally concentrates on the control of the Executive , i.e. Government, and public authorities. This area of your Public Law syllabus involves a set of constitutional legal principles that govern the exercise of judicial control over the power of public bodies. If, for example, a public body, such as your local authority, the education department or your local housing authority makes a decision that might potentially be in breach of any public law principle, then that decision may be challenged by you in the Administrative Court by way of Judicial Review . Reasons (or grounds) for this legal challenge will be dealt with in more detail in Chapter 9.
