ABSTRACT

It’s late afternoon and Bourke artist Andrew Hull is punting lanterns down the Darling River in a dinged-up ex-military boat. This will be his last rehearsal before tomorrow’s performance of ‘Remembering the River’. Five pelicans fly low in front, between steep banks, tracing the river. The sun is about to dip and the evening cool presses against our faces as the boat powers us downstream. For Andrew this is all about the light.
