ABSTRACT

Which kind of theatre do we educate for? Theatre as a laboratory or museum? Let us avoid false polarities and prevent misunderstandings: I love museums. They are places of protection, which we increasingly need in times of being attacked by the media. And also the theatre can be a protective environment, a museum for our perception, for all the qualities which might get lost, for the discovering of seeing and hearing, for example. ‘A museum of phrases’, 2 as Canetti once put it, a museum of language, and not just of our own.
