ABSTRACT

The word relationship gets tossed around a great deal these days on afternoon talk shows and in self-help books dealing with romance or family problems. But, in acting, every relationship can be defined by how important the other person is to you; what he or she can do to help or stand in the way of what your character wants. Put another way, your character sees everyone else in terms of how they can help your character achieve her objectives. That isn’t selfish, it’s human.
