ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the Middle Vowel Sound Shift and the table lists the vowel shifts that are articulated in the middle of the mouth for Detailed American English (DAE). There is a sentence for practice with the middle vowel shifts at the top of the table. The table is in the same format as the consonant table. The table lists the diphthongs of R sound shifts. There is also a sentence for practice with the diphthongs of R shifts at the top of the table. The section lists all of the sound shift sentences. In some cases there will be additional sentences added. It can work through the shifts from the points of view of Vocal Posture, and Accent Characteristics, shifting back and forth between the own home. It is an American English accent model that Dudley Knight synthesized to teach a model of American English that employs the details of phonemes without regional variation.
