ABSTRACT
In this chapter, we perform three basic tasks. First, we explain why legislative oversight is considered to be so important by both parliamentary practitioners and scholars. Second, we define what oversight is and, equally important, what it is not. Finally, we show the range of government activities, policies, programs and expenditures that can be overseen by a legislature.
