ABSTRACT
This chapter is comprised of lesson plan suggestions with accompanying grading rubrics. The lessons have been designed to meet the criteria for authentic instruction (learning and assessment) within the framework of the curriculum standards suggested by the National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS). The NCSS standards, Expectations of Excellence: Curriculum Standards for Social Studies, are being used because they favor interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary approaches to the social studies/history curriculum.
