You and school: education and architecture

In 2011, Kermit Baker, economist for the American Institute of Architects (AIA), identified that the number of employees in US architecture offices had declined 25 percent from its peak in 2008. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the total number of employed architects fell from 96,480 in 2008 to 71,460 in 2011 (see Figure 1.1).
