ABSTRACT

Promoting and developing authentic teacher leadership is related to building capacity for both the individual and the organization (Frost & Durrant, 2002; Harris, 2002; Lambert, 2003). Diffusing leadership that builds capacity is much different from delegating work and duties just to get things done or to lighten the workload. Diffusing requires an advocacy for extending the boundaries of authority beyond the position and the person who holds the title, whether principal or administrator.
