Making Tools to Assess and Evaluate Student Work

This chapter explains the “function and structure” of an assessment tool and presents strategies for making these assessment tools. To support the use of standards-based embedded performance tasks, assessment tools must provide students and teachers with information that both can use to improve performance. Furthermore, the assessment tools must be easy to make so that all teachers and students will use them.
