ABSTRACT
Most K -l teachers I talk to believe that the keyboard is a help rather than a hindrance in their students' writing. At about the third grade, teachers tell me that the lack of keyboarding skills is a real impediment to children's writing if they haven't had much previous experience with keyboarding. However, this observa tion should not lead to the conclusion that children should be taught formal keyboarding early.
