ABSTRACT
While performance assessment is essential to a wellrounded assessment plan, it should not be used exclusively. Traditional testing has an important role to play, particularly to assess a large domain and to evaluate student knowledge. But to assess student understanding, to ascertain how well students can apply their knowledge, some type of performance assessment is essential.
