ABSTRACT

Ball bearings are one of the few improvements that have been made to the wheel since its invention. They may be of any size and are widely used in the construction of machines so that friction is minimized when these machines are in operation. They are so important that in World War II, the Allies bombed ball bearing manufacturing plants in Germany because they knew that destruction of these plants would paralyze truck and tank construction.
