ABSTRACT

A five-block middle school schedule is a very flexible plan that can be utilized either to focus predominantly on core instruction or to offer students many opportunities for exploratories and electives. If the school has a 420-minute school day, the schedule could contain five 70-minute blocks with 10 minutes added to Block I to accommodate homeroom duties, 30 minutes for lunch, and 30 minutes for transitions between blocks. Figure 5.1 is a sampie bell schedule.
