The ViSion, MiSSion, and GoalS . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 13 Starting from the Ground Up
By consciously starting with the end in mind, an effective principal can move to the forefront the things that should truly be important to a school and community-enacting the vision and mission of the school or district. Mission statements attempt to articulate the purpose of why schools exist and are foundational to the future success of societies. They often discuss creating lifelong learners, responsible citizenry, and preparing students for life in a global community. Creating an environment dedicated to supporting the enactment of these lofty ideals builds a healthy culture that allows principals to appropriately frame the many tasks, trials, and tribulations they face through a lens that provides clarity and meaning.
