Overview: This lesson teaches students how to identify the narrator in a story or novel and to analyze how the author develops the narrative point of view. This lesson shows how to look at the author’s use of pronouns to identify the narrator, even when the narrator is an outside observer. The lesson plan can be adapted to any piece of narrative fiction.
