ABSTRACT

Schools hold within their walls tomorrow's adults. If those adults are to be responsible citizens, they must have a knowl edge of history and government. If they are to cherish the world's cultural heritage, they must understand and appreciate art, music, and literature. If they are to contribute to society in a positive way, they must learn to resolve conflict peaceably. If they are to be productive workers, they must master a broad array of academic and technical skills. A child who is to thrive in the world tomorrow must thrive in school today.
