ABSTRACT

Some schools have established a culture whereby every adult takes considerable ownership in maintaining high expectations for order and discipline. In this situation, the time required of the principal is marginal because ownership has been established throughout the organization. The Effective Principal Tracker can be used as a framework for investing time in areas that will ensure results. Principals are under pressure to improve the academic performance of their schools, and the best way to accomplish this is to bring teachers out of isolation and engage them in accessing and transferring knowledge among one another with the purpose of delivering improved learning for each student. Sharing failures and successes with colleagues makes a lot of sense and allows people to bounce ideas off one another. The Tracker will also include practices to ensure that students who experience learning difficulties can be identified early on and provided with support to reach mastery.
