ABSTRACT
Great teachers purposely create an inviting classroom culture. Students
come to class because they want to be there. Before school or after school,
students hang around because they feel cared for and safe. While some
teachers lock their door and hope that students will just leave them alone,
within the high-trust classroom the students are encouraged to show up
early and stay late. Their classroom is not just about feeling safe and having
fun, it is about genuine learning. All aspects of the classroom are designed
to spark the curiosity of the student.
