Identifying the Wounded Student

The Diversity of Wounded Students

I have had the privilege of working with some excellent elemen-

tary school teachers over the years, and I have had the

advantage of being an elementary school teacher and certified

administrator. Through my relations and experiences, I believe

that one resource we sometimes neglect in our system is the

voice of these early childhood teachers. These teachers are the

first to pick up on a student’s needs. If we are going to change

the old way of doing business, we must empower the input of

those on the front line, thus identifying these wounded stu-

dents at an early age.
