ABSTRACT

Clearly, when you are offering benchmark lessons or small-group mini-lessons, you are “on stage” in front of the entire class or a small group of students. Beyond that time, you should be engaged as a facilitator. It’s important to resist the temptation to think that students are well engaged and you can grade papers, plan lessons, or talk at length with a visitor to the classroom. Your facilitation time is a critical part of the teaching process.
