ABSTRACT

In Feinde (Enemies) (Viktor Tourjansky, 1940), Germans in Poland, living near the border, are terrorized by Polish thugs, secretly supported by the authorities. German farmers are killed, their homes burned down, their belongings stolen. Daily their position grows worse until they realize it is only a matter of time before they are massacred. So, packing their belongings, they leave by night, and after a dangerous journey, under their Leader (Willy Birgel), who knows best and whom they all obey, they reach the Reich in safety.
