ABSTRACT

International Political Economy (IPE) and Comparative Political Economy (CPE) analyses are in great demand. They struggle hard, however, with the challenge to understand the dynamics and the complexity of the multiple crises of capitalism and the dominant way to deal with it, i.e., the politics of austerity. The answers provided not only depend on empirical knowledge, but also on the general theoretical assumptions about the nature and modes of reproduction in the realm of international political economy.
