ABSTRACT

Sustainability is a corporate management concept that offers an alternative to the traditional growth and profit-focused business models.

Whilst recognising that growth and profitability are vital, sustainability directs the organisation to follow societal goals at an operational level, specifically those relating environmental protection, social justice and equity and economic development.

In this chapter, we’ll explore why sustainability is important, how initiatives need to be managed, why avoiding ‘green-washing’ is crucial, how best to collaborate, and why engaging on sustainability is vital to organisational success.
