ABSTRACT

A 2D media server simply plays back digital content as if projected on a flat surface. A 3D media server, on the other hand, creates a virtual 3D environment in real time using a combination of layers and objects. The Ai and d3 servers go even further into the 3D world by creating a 3D space. The programmer is able to load in a full 3D model of any object and use the screen to program directly on the surface. Simulating pixel mapping across a complex object such as curved LED wall is also possible in these media servers. Sophisticated media servers such as Ai and d3 create virtual worlds that can be incredibly useful for programming. With the use of these types of virtual environments, the entire show can literally be programmed ahead of time. Both Ai and d3 feature timelines that allow cues to be created directly in the server in similar fashion to a show control application.
