ABSTRACT

Italian publishing offers an extremely wide and exciting panorama in all the varied areas of knowledge, with over 20,000 titles published each year by almost 2,000 publishers of varying size and importance. Along with the rich and varied output of the Italian publishing houses of art sector, one should also note the impressive publications of volumes of art by banks such as Cassa di Risparmio, Credito Italiano, S. Paolo, Monte dei Paschi, etc. A work certainly present in every public library should be noted as fulfilling the needs of all readers interested in Italian culture, literature, and language. Ricordi, Italy’s leading music publisher, especially important in the more philological fields of music score publishing though groups like the Institute of Vivaldi Studies and the Cini Foundation, both of which have been engaged for many years in the critical editions of musical works.
