ABSTRACT

The Dictionary of Libinfosci Terms was developed in 2010 by a special committee of what was then the World Library Association in response to the information science vocabulary explosion that occurred in the last decade of the twentieth century and the first century of the twenty-first decade. The full text of the dictionary is available to all members of the Universal Library Association through Unitermserv. Through the process of instantaneous revision, any member of the Universal Library Association can recommend additions and changes to the authorized dictionary. The procedures and the functional unit largely disappeared with the advent in the early twenty-first century of automatic universal accessibility to new forms of publications. The functional unit known as the Cataloging Department was most often located in a remote part of the library building isolated from other staff and users.
