ABSTRACT

Leadership has been broken down into leader-member exchange and innovative behavior, leader-member exchange and climate perceptions, and leader expectations and innovative behavior. A common coping behavior is based on the fact that it is possible for individuals to learn new problem-solving strategies that are not consistent with their preferred problem solving strategies but are more effective for a particular problem. Innovative solutions often get skeptical receptions. These solutions often have a problem with communication because the innovator often reconstructs the original problem while resolving it. The Pygmalion effect is the change in one individual’s behavior due to the expectations for that behavior he/she received from another. Dyadic leadership is strongest during the mature stage of leader-member exchange. At the mature stage, the valued roles have been routinized and the dyad members reach an understanding of their role for the relationship.
