ABSTRACT

SUMMARY. The current Estonian library journal, Raamatukogu (Library), traces its history back to 1923 when the first issue was published. The journal ceased with World War II and Soviet occupation of Estonia, and was revived in 1964 as an occasional collection of articles, and from 1967 as a regularly-issued bulletin for Estonian libraries. It has only been since Estonian independence has been re-established that the publication has been issued as a journal again. The author chronicles the history of the journal and focuses on its development since 1990, discussing contents, editorial policies, and readership.
