ABSTRACT

Kentucky is an interesting and intriguing state for lots of reasons-the Presidents of both the Union and the Confederacy, Lincoln and Davis, came from this state, as did “The Great Compromiser,” Alben Barkley. Legends of the Hatfields and McCoys tarnished the image of a proud people as did a mindless TV sitcom about life in the mountains where the world's first combined Library and Televillage service is being developed. To top it all off, the state's motto, “United We Stand, Divided We Fall” could decorate the flag of any library consortium or cooperative today.
