ABSTRACT

Many user-friendly search systems and software packages are now on the market and make it easy for the health care professional to access remote databases without the assistance of a search analyst. This paper describes the major end user search systems and software packages providing an overview of features such as how a product appeals to the user, documentation, costs, and differences between technical systems and the user-friendly versions. A discussion of department management of end user services is provided along with a description of future trends in end user searching.
