New Tools for Collection Development: The Internet Scout Project
In order to better serve their users, many libraries are expanding their collection development efforts to include Internet resources. While many Internet resources are valuable and worthy of inclusion in a library collection, many are not. There are, as of yet, no established rules or tools for discovery, evaluation, and cataloging of these resources. Therefore, as collection development professionals expand their scopes to include online resources, they must also expand their tools to develop new collection strategies for building electronic resource collections.
