As the new millennium approaches, traditional library book vendors are finding that they must reinvent themselves to meet the new realities of a business model for the 21st century and the changing acquisitions and collection development requirements of the academic library. Those that realize that they are now in the business of providing information will survive and prosper; those that persist in clinging to the old archetype of merely providing monographs are doomed to failure.
