ABSTRACT

Although Elijah Moshinsky has made his reputation directing grand opera, he is clearly a favored director in the BBC-TV/Time-Life “Shakespeare Plays” series, having been hired to work under two different executive producers (Shaun Sutton and Jonathan Miller) to direct a number of the most challenging plays: All’s Well, Cymbeline, Merchant of Venice, Coriolanus, and Love’s Labor’s Lost. I was fortunate enough to sit in the production booth at the BBC Television Centre in Wood Lane on this latter production and to watch Moshinsky work. Love’s Labor’s Lost was video-recorded June 30-July 6, 1984.
